The Ghosts of Lovers Past Part 2: River Song
“Hello, sweetie.”

“Hello, sweetie.”
Emily tried to keep the glare off her face as this strange, unknown woman who had saved their butts and made the Doctor blush while doing so walked over and wrapped her hand around the Doctor’s forearm. Technically Emily didn’t have the right to glare. It’s not like the Doctor was her property or something.
However, try as she might she still couldn’t stop herself from crossing her arms and narrowing her eyes just the tiniest bit.
“R-River,” the Doctor stuttered a little over the name. “Out and about again?”
“Thought I’d get a few things done,” the woman called River shrugged and cast her eyes over to Emily. “You’ve met her already I see.”
The Doctor looked at Emily as well and Emily squirmed a little under the sudden scrutiny. “What do you know about Emily?” she asked, her face scrunched up in suspicion.
“Yeah,” Emily said shortly. “What do you know about me?”
River brought her finger up to her lips and made a shush noise, before she tapped her nose and winked at Emily. She placed a light kiss on the Doctor’s lips (Emily’s whole body tensed) and then she turned around and patted Cook on the shoulder. He’d been leering at her the entire time she’d been in the TARDIS. “Not today, big boy,” she said. “I’m sure I’ll run into you all again, though.”
Emily glared at her until she stepped out of the TARDIS and into the sun, closing the door shut behind her. She relaxed, only to tense again when River poked her head back inside. “And you’re still leaving the brakes on!” she admonished, before retreating again.
“That was quite a non-answer,” Emily grumbled.
“That was River,” the Doctor said affectionately. She blushed again when Emily glared at her and rubbed at the back of her head. “Anyway,” she said boisterously, “who’s up for an adventure?”
